Records also tell us that in 1876 the annual rent for the pub was £21.  There is a stone in the rear wall celebrating Queen Victorias jubilee in 1887.  Scandal hit the pub in 1939 when it was fined £14 for selling out of hours. Surprisingly little has changed in the pub structure over the years - the fire place on the west end of the building has been moved, and the building hasbeen extended at the back. On the left are picture Mr. and Mrs. Scott, The Ship landlord and landlady from 1929 to 1937.
